About Me
London based UK Songwriter and Producer.
A classically trained multi-instrumentalist, ni-x studied Recording at Salford University before starting as a TapeOp at The Windings Studios in North Wales. With sessions also at Amazon (Parr Street Liverpool) and Strawberry (Stockport) he worked with: James, The Charlatans, K-Klass, Napalm Death, Scat Opera, Dr Phibes & The House of Wax Equations and Terrovision. Working on Tape and in the analogue world, he learnt from Producers and Engineers such as Colin Richardson (Fear Factory, Machine Head, Funeral For A Friend), Pete Coleman (AC/DC, OMD, Echo & The Bunnymen) and Steve Harris (U2, Natalie Imbruglia, The Wombats).
He moved to London working as a session pianist and guitarist, where he recorded and gigged from Brixton Academy to Ronnie Scotts before joining DV247 and creating the DV Pro Audio Division in West London. While there he built up a dedicated team, who went on to have success in their specialist fields, providing installations for many of the leading UK Studios and Producers.
Performing on projects for the BBC and Ministry before leaving DV and starting a new venture with Songphonic, based in the Coach House Studios, St Anns Court - which was previously owned by Roxy Music's Phil Manzanera. It was here ni-x got to develop his engineering and recording techniques further in a world-class facility and honed his writing with musicians from Turkey and the UK.
The studio had been modernised by owner Osman Kent with the acoustics being re-designed by Nick Whitaker. A wealth of real-world experience with classic outboard, equipment and microphones has served ni-x well for the future, whilst working with artists and writers from the UK and Istanbul. These included Poppy Tierney, Serteb Erener, Bora Uzer, Xanda Howe, Cassandra Somai, Nicole Fuentes, Emma Stevens and the Jyrojets.
After leaving Songphonic, he joined KMR Audio as a roving Pro-Audio Studio Consultant. He has provided consultancy, and support for studios and producers such as Abbey Road, Air, Britannia Row, British Grove, Chapel Studios, The Dairy, Dean Street, Dru Masters, Fraser T Smith, Guy Sigsworth, K-Warren, Masterchord, Matrix, Metropolis, Metrophonic, Mi7, Palma Music, Radium-Audio, Ren Swan, State Of The Ark, Tileyard, TMS Productions, Westpoint, Whitfield Mastering..and many more
He now splits his time between KMR Audio - writing Product Reviews, Interviews and Audio blogs - and Writing and Producing with a new partnership based in Palma Music Studios, Mallorca and Kingsmere Studios, UK.
Working out of his own Pro Tools HDX equipped private London studio, recent writing and productions have included collaborations with WestLondonDeep, echosway, Tania Doko, Fredrik Thomander, Shereen Shabana, Maria Marcus, Mattias Bylund, Håkan Hansson, Lasse Wellander, and ADMiT.
